SNOWGOOSE OUTFITTERS REPORT 4/12/2013
Springtime snowstorms add much excitement and mystery to the spring 70-485 conservation season. It has hopefully prolonged the migration for a while longer or at least stalled some birds.
Hopefully everyone is still enjoying the season! Our outfitters are slowly ending their seasons, most exhausted after the grueling hours and long days afield day in and day out, and are looking forward to going home after months chasing the snow geese northward. If you are ever thinking of guiding professionally, talk to these fellows first for a reality check. Mat
Schauer with Northern Skies Outfitters reported another excellent 70-485 week especially
the past couple of days in the snow. He recorded back to back 100+ days and attributes the action to a reverse migration due to the storm. He mentioned a majority of mature birds dominating the shooting as the weather has broken up the flocks and has left a lot of mature birds in South Dakota. Mat plans on continuing while there is good hunting, if interested contact him at www.northernskiesoutfitters.com Tracy Northup with Up North Outfitters is hunting in South Dakota along the North Dakota border and has also been very successful. He has indicated that he is going home finally this coming weekend but this past week was wild and with 4-6″ of snow the hunts became extreme.
